How Obama Will Ban Guns without Congressional Approval

In Edgar Allen Poe’s short story “The Purloined Letter”, the criminal fools the police by hiding the stolen letter in plain sight.  While the police were expecting all these elaborate twists and turns, the thief just cleverly disguised his crime simply so that nearly none could deduce it.

So too, does President Obama plan on banning guns in such an outright simple way.  And in so doing making it all the more nefarious.

Will Obama try to continue to push for the UN Arms Trade Treaty that will cripple the industry and force a national firearms registration for all participants of said treaty?  Yes.

Will Obama continue to pack the courts with militantly anti-gun judges?  Yes.

But these are just misdirection.  Because, while Second Amendment activists can rouse the masses and fight against such moves by entreating our Senators against such madness, Obama will quietly be changing the rules to which he need not seek permission from anyone.

The law he would utilize is all ready on the books and will undermine the 2nd Amendment by criminalizing millions of guns currently in the possession of law abiding citizens.

I speak of the Gun Control Act of 1968.  How can Obama accomplish the banning of so many guns?  Simple…he will just reclassify them.  All Obama has to do is instruct the BATF to classify semiautomatic firearms and multiple capacity ammunition feeding devices as Title 2 National Firearms Act items under the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Title II of the Gun Control Act of 1968 is a revision of the National Firearms Act of 1934, and pertains to machine guns, short or “sawed-off” shotguns and rifles, and so-called “destructive devices” (including grenades, mortars, rocket launchers, large projectiles, and other heavy ordnance). Acquisition of these weapons is subject to prior approval of the Attorney General, and federal registration is required for possession. Generally, a $200 tax is imposed upon each transfer or making of any Title II weapon.

With the reclassification of so called “Assault Rifles” and large capacity magazines to fall under Title II, the Federal Government can all but ban outright millions upon millions of guns.  Unless you expect Eric “we must brainwash people against guns” Holder or others of his ilk to be doling out approval for these weapons.

Can’t happen?  But it has…and relatively recently.  In 1994 during the Clinton Administration, the one that brought us the last so called “Assault” Weapons Ban, the USAS-12, Striker 12 and Streetsweeper shotguns were all reclassified requiring them to be registered, taxed and confiscated if approval wasn’t extended.

So, not only does Obama have the means to reclassify a whole slew of weapons that he deems unfit for private citizens, he even has a precedent to go off of.

I’m not saying that the sky is falling…i’m saying it has all ready crashed and now we have to fight to try and mitigate the damage as best we can.

One of the best ways to go about doing that is push your state into passing a Firearms Freedom Act.  Basically, any weapon that is made in the state and retained therein would not be regulated or fall under the purview of the Federal government since it isn’t involved in interstate commerce.

States rights vs Federal infringements.

Yesterday, when I learned of Obama’s back door strategy to disarm us… I wrote one of my Senator’s and asked what he was going to do about it… today I received this answer:

    Dear Ms. Cornelison,

Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to the United Nations (UN) Treaty to regulate small arms. It is good to hear from you.

Like you, I am vehemently opposed to the U.S. signing any UN Treaty that would regulate small arms. I believe this is a backdoor way to chip away at every law abiding citizen’s right to keep and bear arms. As you know, the Obama Administration has expressed an interest in international small arms control initiatives that were resisted previously by the Bush Administration. However, if the Obama Administration does sign the U.S. as a party to the treaty, it would have to be ratified by 2/3 of the U.S. Senate. I continue to be actively involved with some of my colleagues in gathering information and educating other Senators and the general public to prove that this treaty is unnecessary and unconstitutional. Besides signing onto a letter circulated by Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) to both President Obama and Secretary Clinton expressing overwhelming opposition to such a treaty , I have also joined as a cosponsor of S.2205, the ” Second Amendment Sovereignty Act of 2012 ,” which prohibits funding to negotiate a UN Arms Trade Treaty that restricts the Second Amendment rights of United States citizens . Please be assured that I will continue to monitor this issue closely and I will oppose this treaty should it come to the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Again, thank you for contacting me on this very important issue. Please be sure to visit our website at . I look forward to your continued correspondence.

    John Boozman
    U.S. Senator

That’s great Nonnie. Way to be active in making sure this doesn’t come to pass. Keep up the good work.

WOW!!! An actual reply and some some super standardized generic response letter.

So True! Every time I write my Senators I get some “boxed” double speak response letter that has a whole bunch of contradictions that pretty much end up adding up to nothing. The political way of saying “Your totally correct even though I think your wrong.” Very frustrating.

I have long understood how truly blessed I am to live in the great state of Arizona who has their own Firearms Freedom Act. Now my question is, who manufactures a pistol and an AR receiver here in Arizona?

You are among the fortunate Dante. I wish I lived in a FFA state. The RINO’s in Pennsylvania keep giving lip service to it, and even introduced the legislation but even though they control both houses of the legislature AND have a sitting governor they have heretofore refused to move forward with it.

All I want for Christmas is a Pennsylvania Produced New Thompson Sub Machine Gun. :o( But the Republicans in Harrisburg are ruining Christmas!!!

Thanks Randy and Tony. I just found a great piston AR SBR from Hogan. Once I add a suppressor I’ll have a great home defense tool. I think I might sell my Rock River Arms AR next weekend at the gun show and upgrade to a Hogan. We’ll see what falls out of the money tree. I’ll have to checkout AZ Firearms and Sundevil Firearms as well. The receiver has to be stamped showing it was made in AZ.

Unfortunately, my senators are Feinstein and Boxer, both of whom are extremely anti-gun. I’ve written them, but I doubt they care what the citizens think as they have proven many times.

Daniel, it is my understanding that both Feinstein and Boxer have Ca. issued CCW permits and carry for personal protection, (legally). I guess they are just more important than you are.

You should consider leaving California or drawing a line in the sand where you will no longer live on your knee’s but are willing to die on your feet throwing our dysfunctional and unconstitutional POS government out of office.
