About

My name is Tony Oliva and I am the Director of Media Relations at Gun Owners of America.  I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Political Science degree and after several years in the Army serving as an Airborne Paratrooper and Scout I entered the corporate world as a Business Consultant.

Eventually, my love of the Second Amendment entered a state of harmony with my skill set and experience and I was asked to join Gun Owners of America to help ensure that the freedoms our forefathers enumerated in the Constitution, that our military has spent the past 200+ years fighting and dying to defend, would not get wiped away for political expediency.  That the erosion of Liberty would not continue to the point where the concept was just a word that lacked substance in America.

Yes, I’m a true believer.  The Second Amendment is the only one that guarantees all the others and if it goes then the rest are sure to follow.

Enjoy the blog and be ever vigilant.  That is the price of liberty.

Tony… My name is jimmy henry And with your permission I will share many of your posts to my facebook page. I don’t have quite the knack of writing that you do. I strongly support the 2nd amendment, and strongly think there is absolutely no compromise to the right to bear arms… thanks again..Jimmy Henry.

I have unfriended you from my Facebook page. I’m sure that’s no problem to you. Chances are I know more about guns and have owned more guns than you ever will. But one thing I do know better than you, and that’s how to understand the English language and communicate with people without acting like a total fucking idiot. Go ahead dickhead. Prove to the world what you are NOT willing to do. Prove how uncompromising you are. One day when you find yourself beat down by what ever enemy or issue just kicked your ass maybe then you will see the value of at least a bit of compromise. Not giving it, just compromise. Not giving up a single gun, just dealing with people that you must deal with in order to keep what is yours. You will either learn that the easy way or life will force you to learn it the hard way. And just so you know, I don’t give a fuck what you or you ‘friends’ think. I’ll keep buying rifles, shotguns, pistols revolvers and whatever else I can afford. And I will stick with the NRA and not some dickhead with a blog and a FaceBook page. Fucking wannabe.

You’re right…that’s no problem for me.

But just for kicks lets see something: “But one thing I do know better than you, and that’s how to understand the English language and communicate with people without acting like a total fucking idiot. Go ahead dickhead.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…are you serious. This is me, laughing at you. They bald face idiocy of your statement is too much. I mean…that doesn’t seem a very effective way to communicate with someone. Just seems like an angry rant to me.

Other people can go and read the rest of your tirade and curse words and so on. You think it reflects poorly on me or Gun Owners of America?

Poor sir, it just reflects poorly on you.

I think that “shall not be infringed” suggests one should not compromise.

There are mentally disturbed people in every country around the world, the US is not special in this regard. The problem in America is that there is easy access to guns, and there are there are about 80 million gun owners in America with a combining total of 258 million guns in circulation. Tragedies like today in Newtown, CT will continue to happen from time to time until the US gun laws change and the number of guns in circulation are greatly reduced.
Our forefathers did not anticipate nor intend for American society to have access to guns the way they do today. Your vigilance to protect the Second Amendment is misguided and irrational in today’s world.

Please, it is easy to jump on the tragedy bandwagon and point out that this is not what the forefathers wanted. The killing of children is NOT what the forefathers wanted, that is true enough, but they weapons that the forefathers were talking about back in the day were the cutting edge military equipment of the time.

Just as I do not look to ban alcohol or fast cars when a drunk driver kills a young family, nor do I look to gut the Second Amendment because so crazy, stole a few handguns and shot up a school.

The recent attack that has occurred is a tragedy.

Not because of easy access to guns but the removal of rights from our teachers. If there was not a “Gun free zone” then there would have been teachers that could have protected their students.

The unforgivable infringement on the basic rights of man that this country once held dear is what allowed this to occur. Gun control is evil, with the possibility of good intentions.

audemus jura nostra defendere – America has reached a crossroads because of evil. An evil young man murdered 20 babies, some the same ages as my own grandchildren. Then he took his own life so that society could not punish him properly for what he did. The fault of this massacre was not guns, nor was it even “access to guns”, nor was it “a Bushmaster M4”. It was a deranged and sick mind. A few, very few Congress members and the Obama administration have decided to take it upon themselves in spite of the millions of innocent American gun owners to punish us all because of these incidents.

The first shots in “Civil War 2.0” were fired in that school – not by a gun owner, not by a government entity, but by a madman.

If the Left believes that changing gun laws will change what happened, they are wrong. Worse, modifying the existing gun laws, to return to the “assault weapons ban” of before (which for the records CHANGED NOTHING in crime) they are sadly mistaken. This is no longer a war on guns, it is a war of “The First Amendment Vs. The Second Amendment”. The Media is fanning the flames and ignorant persons on the Left have decided that they would “just feel better” if they “could just ban guns” – with no thought that the Second Amendment is NOT about “hunting” or “Sport or target shooting”.

Let me be clear, we will dare to defend our rights. We will NOT lay down our weapons because of a mentally ill, madman who killed children. If anything we should be teaching the teachers to defend their students. We should be training our own children in self defense, situational awareness and in how to escape and evade when they have no other options.

The man responsible for this is dead, along with 26 others – but changing the laws won’t stop this sort of crime in the future. A “Man on a Mission” will get his target if he is intent on doing so. It will be with a knife, a crowbar, a bomb, a bucket of gasoline or a car – will the media then demand the banning of those items?

In 2009, a total of 1,314 children age 14 and younger were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes. Of those 1,314 fatalities, 181 (14%) occurred in alcohol-impaired driving crashes. Out of those 181 deaths, 92 (51%) were occupants of a vehicle with a driver who had a BAC level of .08 or higher, and another 27 children (15%) were pedestrians or pedalcyclists struck by drivers with a BAC of .08 or higher.

Cars, alcohol and drinking while driving has not been banned. The alcohol limit in your blood is simply lowered in various states.

I urge you all to start writing, now, today, every congressman/woman, senator and President and explain that the Second Amendment is not about hunting… it’s about fighting off a tyranical government. They need to know that we will not surrender our weapons because of criminals and murderers.

We are Americans. We have a heritage of defending what is ours. Our Rights are inviolable. Americans who seem to believe that the First Amendment is absolute forget that without the Second Amendment they will not long keep the First. We will not surrender.

    Dear Mr Oliva,

I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Justin Burgess. I’m an Army infantryman, conservative, gun owner, and author. I have recently returned from Panjwai,(Kandahar) Afghanistan where I had deployed on my third combat tour. While there, in my down time I began work on a book titled, ‘The American War: A Line in the Sand’

The work is a look at our country in the near future, and tells a story about the beginnings of an insurgency here in the United States. Guns, or lack thereof, are a central theme to the background of the novel. It details how an American government, empowered by a nation racked with anti-gun and anti-military sentiment, is able to pass the legislation that eventually sets the conditions for both the arrest of the protagonist, and a Chinese sponsored crackdown and formal occupation of the nation at the invitation of the White House. Although written several months ago as a completely fictional novel, recent events both overseas and here at home have already lent a scary sort of reality to the premise of the story, especially with regards to the increasing anti-weapons rhetoric being thrown around Washington.

As you are a popular pro-gun blog, I know you must get bombarded with requests and contacts like this one, however, I would still like to ask two things. First, would you accept a free PDF copy of the novel for your own reading and possible review (even negative feedback is helpful)? Second, if you’re not moved to immediately delete it after you finish, to let your audience know about my story and help out an aspiring writer. Even a short plug would greatly help my goal of becoming a well established conservative author.

Below is the link to the Amazon page for the novel, where you can also read more about the storyline and see my other work.

Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear from you shortly.

    Very Sincerely,

    Justin Burgess

    Hi Tony,

I’m from a hit series for a major cable network, and we’re looking for die-hard gun lovers in Kentucky (and the surrounding areas) who have cool weapons that they’d like to feature on the show. Is there any way you can help spread the word (maybe post a message or even word of mouth)? If you (or anyone you know) are interested in learning more, please respond with a recent photo and your contact information to Chris Spies at chris.spies@leftfieldpictures.com.

    Thank you!

    Howdy, Tony-

Thanks for your devoted support of our 2nd Amendment rights. I’ve just launched a new clothing label (starting with graphic t-shirts) called “Badlands Collective,” that has strong patriotic and 2nd Amendment influence. I’d love for you to check it out and maybe post about it. Yet another platform to help get pro-gun beliefs and influence out in the world.

Please check us out at http://www.badlandscollective.com

    Much appreciated. God bless.
