Rabid Gun Control Zealots Descend Upon Tragedy

I was on a plane for most of Friday.  I heard about the CT school shooting while talking to some fellow travelers in Chicago’s Midway Airport.  Out of respect for the victims I wanted to give it a few days before I broached any political topics in regards to the shooting at Newtown Elementary School in CT.

Of course, like a pack of rabid dogs the gun control zealots descended upon the tragedy and while traipsing over the still warm bodies of children, called for the utter elimination of the 2nd Amendment.

They do not highlight that the shooter was a sociopath.

They do not highlight that he stole the guns.

They do not highlight that CT has strict gun regulations and an assault weapons ban.

No, the demonize his tool for his actions.  In truth, to hear some of them talk, it was the guns fault that he committed this heinous act.  THEY ARE MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIM.

My fury and contempt for these sniveling gun grabbing cowards has been stoked.  How dare they, these pathetic examples of Americans, try to mitigate the fault laid at Adam Lanza’s feet?

I do not want this to become an angry rant, but I cannot help recall in Shakespeare’s  Henry V, when the unarmed boys of the baggage were killed by the French in cowardly knavery, Henry responds:

I was not angry since I came to France, Until this instant.

And I was not angry at the gun grabbers until now.  They were always craven and cowardly in my eyes, but I felt that a response to ignorance and naivete.  But now?  How dare they?  They would blame an inanimate object and by thus try to lessen the guilt of the murderer.

And not only lessening his guilt but by trying to rake the killers mother, his first victim, over the coals by painting her as an extremist and kook.  They want the public to feel sorry for Adam Lanza ‘the killer of children’, because if they do, then they can look for scapegoats.  And the Schumbers, Bloombergs and Feinsteins of the world are chomping at the bit to name that scapegoat…firearms and those who have them.

Before the little bodies of the children were cold, these “Champions of Gun Control” were on the air, paying lip service to the victims while reveling in the opportunity to “tip the scales” in favor of banning guns.

With Schumer giddy about the idea of tipping the scales, Feinstein wasted no time in promising that she will introduce an assault weapons ban immediately upon the beginning of the next congress.

Bloomberg, the ghoul of gun control, who has never let a tragedy go by that he doesn’t insinuate himself into, has gone so far as saying he has a gun control wish list that Obama should adhere to and then absurdly claims that these types of tragedies only happen in America.  Apparently, we annexed Norway when I wasn’t looking.

Of course, these slimy opportunists are trying to give America the Kansas City Shuffle because their real agenda is not, “common sense” gun laws, because Connecticut had these “common sense” gun laws AND an assault weapons ban.

The school was a gun free zone and there is a waiting period to purchase firearms.

Adam Lanza, was 20 years old and he stole the firearms he used.  Any gun control measure short of an absolute ban would not have stopped this tragedy and even then, since Prohibition and the War on Drugs worked so well, why do people believe a ban on guns would be any better?

But that is what these rabid zealots want.  They lull in people with buzz words like “common sense” and stoke the fire of fear with straw men terms like “assault weapon” but the fact of the matter is, they are ghouls who will use the dead in order to advance their agenda.  An agenda that has utterly failed 20 children in Connecticut

Blood runs in the streets because gun free zones deny the right to the lawful…the criminals and the insane care not.

I agree that there should be a discussion.  The discussion should be about how to eliminate gun free zones so tragedies like this can be mitigated.

The only politician I have heard that has the character and courage to face the blistering attacks by the zealots and their complicit media allies is Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert who said that an armed Principal could have made all the difference.

“I wish to God (the principal) had had an M4 in her office, locked up, so when she heard gunfire she pulls it out … and takes him out, takes his head off before he can kill those precious kids,”

How many more innocent lives must be sacrificed for the illusion of a “Gun Free Zone”?  Tell me again how criminals and lunatics follow the rules.

And the gun banners like Schumer, Feinstein and Bloomberg make suggestions that would not have prevented this tragedy.  Rep. Gohmert is the only person I have heard of that is suggesting something that might help.

Once again, CT has an assault weapons ban.  So Feinstein trying to renew an AWB is her own pet project that she is disingenuously trying to launch of the backs of 20 innocent souls.  Her selfishness is sickening.

As I have said, I am angry.  Angry at the lunatic who murdered these innocent children and their teachers and if possible, angrier still at those cowardly bastards who would excuse his behavior in order to advance their own agenda.

The tragedy at Newtown can be laid directly at the feet of Gun Control. And if the gun control zealots have their way…blood will run in the gun free streets.

You are exactly right. The NRA didnt creat GUN FREE SCHOOLS, gun control and SCHUMER , AND FEINSTEIN and BLOOMBURG, created the Playgrounds for psychopaths….and then left them unguarded.

Thank you for this! Here I am living in Mexico where we are terrified daily of the mafia because we CANNOT defend ourselves….EVERY nation should allow it’s citizens the right to defend themselves!

The British didn’t allow us to defend ourselves. At Lexington & Concord, we did anyway. In Mexico, Santa Ana tried to to forbid it. As I understand it, he faced rebellion all over Mexico. In Texas, the rebels succeeded. For free men, there is no “allow.”

What difference does that make? Tyrants have always tried to prevent their victims from defending themselves. Free men and women have done it anyway, Besides the cases I mentioned, look up the Jewish resistance to the Nazis in the Warsaw Ghetto. They were forbidden to carry firearms (Nazi Weapons Law: March 18, 1938). They started with a few smuggled (illicit, illegal, “weapons of war which do not belong on our streets”), used those to get more from the remains of the soldiers sent to kill them, and held out for longer than the nation of Poland did. Tyrants have always, and will always try, to disarm people. When they succeed, people die, in horrific numbers. Free people will always resist. They may not always succeed, (the Warsaw Ghetto uprising was crushed with tanks), but sometimes they do. We did, Texas did, and the Nazi Reich was itself crushed by the free people of the world, and our weapons.

I agree completely with Patrick! We need to do away with the gun free zones and arm and train some responsible teachers and principles, so they can help protect those innocent kids!

In my limited view of the world:
#1 Stop publishing the shooter’s name over and over (maybe not all all!). The more times it is said/heard/printed, the more “fame” the school/mall terrorists receive.
#2 Publish the victims’ names – and not repeatedly.
#3 I know media has the “If it bleeds, it leads”, philosophy, yet how about just once in a while, publish how many people have been saved because they CHOSE to defend themselves.

Rocky, you make a valid point. I had wanted to write the entire article with using he and the shooter and a variety of other terms.

I remembered a Johnny Cash song, Streets of Laredo, where a man was shot and told a stranger to write a letter to his mother that he was dying. With this exception:

“But please not one word of the man who had killed me. Don’t mention his name and his name will pass on.”

I would have preferred to never have known his name, and I do not seek to add to any fame he may garner, but for grammatical clarity he was easier to use his name the few times I did.

I’d like to point out that retiring Congressmen, Ron Paul (R-TX), introduced a bill in August calling for an end to Gun Free Zones. There’s even a petition online to try and get this passed before the December 21st Congressional Recess…

“The tragedy at Newtown can be laid directly at the feet of Gun Control. And if the gun control
zealots have their way…blood will run in the gun free streets.”

This statement is inaccurate, in-compassionate, and lends credence to the opposition. This tragedy cannot be laid directly at anyone or any organization other than the amoral miscreant that is directly responsible for taking the innocent lives.

I oppose gun control, but I also oppose yellow journalism.

I disagree Chris. Aurora, Columbine, Virginia Tech, Newtown Elementary etc. How many have to die in Gun Free Zones in order for people to realize that they are the problem. Criminals and lunatics will get guns, just as bootleggers got booze and drug dealers get drugs. That is to say illegally.

Only the lawful follow laws and as such, when they are disarmed in so called Gun Free Zones, it allows evil to be done. Tragedy is the result. It’s an ugly truth, but an accurate one. My compassion lies with the victims and my anger is for them.

How that leads credence to the opposition is beyond me.

I appreciate the response. My criticism is strictly to the point that responsibility for this incident can be laid at the hands of anyone but the shooter. I do not disagree with the other points you make as far as the criminal element not obeying and obtaining items that have been made illegal in the past. When we lose credibility is when the opposition gains that “Credence” as I mentioned.

I do not support gun free zones as they are as likely to succeed as attempting to disarm American citizens. However to blame this particular incident on the fact that it was a gun free zone is not accurate either. Not without polling those involved to find out how many 2nd grade teachers would have been packing heat, given the opportunity.

Can law abiding citizens prevent this type of situation? Certainly, however it is not certain guaranteed that it will happen, especially in an environment such as an elementary school. I suspect that the next criticism will be that we will never know what can happen unless we provide the opportunity for protection. This I would not disagree with, however teachers or principals carrying firearms in Elementary school would be very short lived if an irresponsible gun owner inadvertently let a child get a firearm.

The Anti-Gun community has their voice(s). Is it so wrong that we should have ours? You notice that Gun Owners Of America proudly and prominently expresses their position as “The Only No-Compromise Gun Lobby In Washington”. I think they have made it perfectly clear that they have no intention of holding any punches in regards to their pursuit of their agenda. Quite frankly I feel that is exactly as it should be. Gun Owners of America is NOT trying to violate peoples rights. The Anti-Gun community IS trying to violate peoples rights! We don’t ask that Anti-Gun people are “REQUIRED” to have a gun in their home. But the Anti-Gun community is trying to FORCE us to not be able to. When they start playing fair. Then, AND ONLY THEN, should we start playing fair.

Its not wrong at all to have a voice. Its also not wrong to stand by our rights and not “compromise” them away. The second amendment wasn’t put in the bill of rights as a compromise.

I simply believe that in order to maintain a strong prosition and not have to compromise that its important to maintain credibility. You cannot maintain credibility when making accusations or claims as to what would have or might have happened. It is also impossible to maintain credibility when pointing the finger of blame anwhere other than the perpetrator of these heinous crimes.

The anti-gun community does point the finger of blame at firearms, which happen to be inannimate objects until used by an individual. Let them look like the idiots they are.

While I agree that would be the “honorable” way. They are winning because they are not doing things the “honorable” way. They are NOT fighting fair. They are NOT obeying the rules of conflict (if there is such a thing). The are NOT interested in looking rational, intelligent, or informed. AND ITS WORKING! Positioning yourself as a responsible, educated, and practical individual will certainly appease your personal pride, but it will do nothing to assist in winning a war on your rights. The criminals win because they don’t play by the rules. And quite honestly, our current government is being fueled by a majority of the population that no longer has any pride. They have only greed, and fear. No honor, no dignity, no respect. And they are winning. This is a war. They have attacked our rights. They have attacked our Constitution. They have internally attacked my country that I hold so dear. And I for one no longer care what they think of me. I will defend myself. I will defend my Country. And I will do so in ANY MANNER NECESSARY. Those who agree can stand by my side. Those who don’t can get the hell out of my way.

1990 GFSZ, is what is really the issue.

I myself would never enter a business that had a no gun sticker on their window.

The Blame Falls Solely on Our Government. Slick Willie down to the last secretary that answered the phone calls on this law. Why you ask? Because this law, as many laws, was Not Thought Out! A Free Zone of Anything is a place that whatever you are trying to eliminate will never get there. To make a “Free Zone” you need to fence it in, razor wire the top, one way in same way out. Detect whatever it is that you are trying to eliminate. Security to search who ever is entering. The list goes on.

It amaze’s me that no one has brought up this point. All these talk shows, news reports and so on, and not one word about a “Free Zone” and what it entails. I believe we as Americans have stopped thinking for ourseleves and have started to believe everything we hear and read with no questions asked.

The point to be fought for was how the Gun Free School Zone was thought out and implemented and how it failed our children.

Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian so I don’t understand it the same way you all do. Now before you get all crazy I’m not going to propose gun control I personally don’t understand why there is not a limit on the amount of power or the number of bullets in a clip. If this is supposed to be for hunting or even personal safety, why do you need the types of guns that are used in the millitary?

I’m also uncomfortable with the idea of guns being in schools. There are too many things that could go wrong. Why not implement a policy where all schools are locked from the inside and all visitors must ask to be let in? This would work fine for most schools. As for the idea of the principal or certain teachers having guns how would this work? Would they just carry them? What if an unballanced student got it away from them? Would they be locked away? How many staff would know the combination or have access to keys? What happens if an armed gunman kills the person who is in charge of this? Do we want all staff to have access to the guns? Then would all staff have to go through traiining AND regular mental health screenings? I mean really we all know this is an issue of failing mental health system, we have the same in Canada. Perhaps if the person who did this in CT had access to a better system this wouldn’t have happened. Just some questions from a neighbour to the north.

I’d also like to point out that in Canada we have gun control, most people that have guns have them for target practice or hunting we don’t allow concealed carry. We have an exponentially lower rate of school shootings. Hell we have an exponentially lower rate for all homicide by gun. But then we just have a different culture here.

Ifsogirl, i’d like to touch on some of your points.

Firstly, and most importantly out 2nd Amendment doesn’t have anything to do with hunting. The purpose of the right to keep and bear arms in America is twofold. First it is to allow a person to be able to protect their own life. Secondly, it is to protect the citizenry from tyranny.

George Washington didn’t defeat the British by talking to them, he shot them and his soldiers used mostly their own firearms to do it. If a nation is completely disarmed then you have more Tienanmen Squares. Could a couple of guys with AR-15 defeat a tyrannical dictator with the full might of the US Armed Forces? No. But considering there are tens of millions of gunowners in America, he will at least give our elected politicians pause before they want to start stripping too many of our freedoms away.

You say you are uncomfortable with guns in school. What if someone takes it from the teacher or such you ask. That is a common straw man argument that anti gun people here in the states like to propagate. And people such as yourself get lulled into believing that is is better to be unarmed and hope that something bad doesn’t happen than be armed and prevent something bad from happening. There are schools in the United States, both Universities and Primary schools where either students with CCW’s or teachers are allowed to have firearms on campus. There have yet to be any issues with them in regards to your fears. And its not as if it just started, it has been going on for years.

Out mental health system is garbage unfortunately. We have people attacking people with knives, crazies throwing people in front of subway cars and people shooting up schools. I do not blame the knife, the subway car nor the gun. We need to take a serious look as to the reasons that the people decided to take these actions and not try to scapegoat the tool. If a drunk driver kills a family of 4 we don’t start talking about banning fast cars.

Canada is a different culture, you have that right. We have no foreign monarch on our currency and we have not bent the knee to any king of earth in over 230 years. (though our current president likes to bow before foreign leaders he is an exception) We fought for that, it is in our founding documents and as such it is our way.

I point out again, it is the undercutting of that freedom with gun control and gun free zones that fosters environments in which tragedies and mass shootings can occur.

audemus jura nostra defendere – America has reached a crossroads because of evil. An evil young man murdered 20 babies, some the same ages as my own grandchildren. Then he took his own life so that society could not punish him properly for what he did. The fault of this massacre was not guns, nor was it even “access to guns”, nor was it “a Bushmaster M4″. It was a deranged and sick mind. A few, very few Congress members and the Obama administration have decided to take it upon themselves in spite of the millions of innocent American gun owners to punish us all because of these incidents.

The first shots in “Civil War 2.0″ were fired in that school – not by a gun owner, not by a government entity, but by a madman.

If the Left believes that changing gun laws will change what happened, they are wrong. Worse, modifying the existing gun laws, to return to the “assault weapons ban” of before (which for the records CHANGED NOTHING in crime) they are sadly mistaken. This is no longer a war on guns, it is a war of “The First Amendment Vs. The Second Amendment”. The Media is fanning the flames and ignorant persons on the Left have decided that they would “just feel better” if they “could just ban guns” – with no thought that the Second Amendment is NOT about “hunting” or “Sport or target shooting”.

Let me be clear, we will dare to defend our rights. We will NOT lay down our weapons because of a mentally ill, madman who killed children. If anything we should be teaching the teachers to defend their students. We should be training our own children in self defense, situational awareness and in how to escape and evade when they have no other options.

The man responsible for this is dead, along with 26 others – but changing the laws won’t stop this sort of crime in the future. A “Man on a Mission” will get his target if he is intent on doing so. It will be with a knife, a crowbar, a bomb, a bucket of gasoline or a car – will the media then demand the banning of those items?

In 2009, a total of 1,314 children age 14 and younger were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes. Of those 1,314 fatalities, 181 (14%) occurred in alcohol-impaired driving crashes. Out of those 181 deaths, 92 (51%) were occupants of a vehicle with a driver who had a BAC level of .08 or higher, and another 27 children (15%) were pedestrians or pedalcyclists struck by drivers with a BAC of .08 or higher.

Cars, alcohol and drinking while driving has not been banned. The alcohol limit in your blood is simply lowered in various states.

I urge you all to start writing, now, today, every congressman/woman, senator and President and explain that the Second Amendment is not about hunting… it’s about fighting off a tyranical government. They need to know that we will not surrender our weapons because of criminals and murderers.

We are Americans. We have a heritage of defending what is ours. Our Rights are inviolable. Americans who seem to believe that the First Amendment is absolute forget that without the Second Amendment they will not long keep the First. We will not surrender.
